OUR CLINICIANS

Tim Brand

Principal Clinical Psychologist

Tim is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who has worked in private practice since 2007, following earlier experience within the Western Australian public health system. He completed his undergraduate and Honours degrees in Psychology at Curtin University and a Master of Clinical Psychology at Murdoch University.

Tim works with adolescents and adults experiencing a broad range of psychological difficulties, including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, obsessive-compulsive difficulties, panic, anger, insomnia, stress and relationship concerns.

A central feature of Tim's approach is taking time to understand what each client wants to achieve through therapy. He believes that developing a strong working relationship and a shared understanding of the problem provides the foundation for effective psychological treatment.

Rather than assuming that symptom reduction is the only goal, Tim explores what meaningful improvement would look like for each person. This might involve rebuilding confidence, improving relationships, returning to valued activities, developing greater emotional flexibility or responding differently to longstanding patterns.

Tim works collaboratively with clients to develop a clear formulation of their difficulties and an individualised treatment plan that integrates their goals, preferences and circumstances. His approach draws on evidence-based psychological therapies, with an emphasis on helping clients develop insight alongside practical strategies for change.

Tim enjoys using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), metacognitive therapy, schema-focused therapy, and EMDR.

Joshua Hogan

Clinical Psychologist

Joshua is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked in private practice since 2017. He completed a double major in Psychology and an Honours degree at the University of Western Australia, followed by a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at Curtin University.

Joshua works with adolescents and adults and has a particular interest in adolescent development and the psychological challenges that can arise during important life transitions. His clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, PTSD, perfectionism, insomnia, workplace difficulties, relationship concerns, self-esteem and confidence.

Joshua places considerable importance on developing a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship in which clients feel understood, supported and comfortable exploring their difficulties.

An important feature of his therapeutic style is the use of experiential techniques and active skills practice. Rather than relying exclusively on discussion, Joshua enjoys helping clients try new ways of thinking, responding and behaving during sessions.

This might involve practising communication or assertiveness skills, exploring alternative responses to difficult emotions, or using structured exercises to help clients experience new perspectives. These approaches allow clients to develop confidence in applying what they learn beyond the therapy room.

Joshua aims to make therapy engaging, practical and relevant to each client's circumstances, helping them develop skills and strategies that support meaningful changes in everyday life.

Dhiya Patel

Registered Psychologist

Dhiya is a Registered Psychologist who is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology. She works with adolescents and adults and has a particular interest in providing culturally responsive psychological care.

Dhiya has experience supporting individuals affected by trauma and adversity, including physical abuse, neglect and family and domestic violence. Her background also includes providing behaviour support to children, adolescents and adults through the NDIS.

Her clinical interests include trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, cross-cultural concerns, stress, adjustment and significant life transitions.

Dhiya believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to effective psychological treatment. She aims to create a respectful, collaborative environment where clients feel heard, understood and comfortable discussing their experiences.

She recognises that each person's difficulties occur within the context of their relationships, culture, personal history and circumstances. Her approach therefore emphasises understanding the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all treatment model.

Dhiya draws on evidence-based psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, EMDR, Narrative Therapy and skills-based interventions. She works collaboratively with clients to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties and identify strategies that are relevant to their needs and goals.
